After a year in which the healthcare industry added an average of 26,000 jobs per month, 2015 got off to a good start, too. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that healthcare employment grew by 38,300 jobs during the month of January. Specifically, hospitals added 9,600 jobs in January, after adding 7,500 jobs in December. Physicians’ offices added 13,400 jobs in January, a big jump over the 3,300 jobs added in December. Nursing and residential care facilities also accounted for 7,000 new jobs in January.
